I've done this enough years now to know exactly how the week plays out. Monday through Wednesday before Mothers Day is when the smart orders come in. Change the water every two days. Bacteria in standing water are what kill flowers early, not age, not air. Keep it cool.
Watch where you put them. Away from direct sun, heating vents, and fruit bowls. Ripening fruit releases ethylene gas that speeds up wilting.
Care Tips by Flower Type
Roses: Remove leaves below the waterline. If a head droops, recut and move to a separate glass for a few hours and it usually comes back. Long-stem roses can last ten days or more with proper care.
